Plastics Tooling and Molding

Wear and Friction Resistant Dry Film Lubricants for High-Density Plastics

Microsurface Corporation provides proven dry film coating solutions for the plastics industry. These coating systems have helped solve various issues associated with thermoforming, injection molding, compression and SMC molding, forming, and tooling environment. We provide these coating solutions with excellent turn-around times and competitive pricing.

Dry Film Lubricant Systems for Plastic Coatings

We provide the following lubricants for diverse plastic applications

  • Molybdenum Disulfide (MoS2): This surface treatment solution is excellent for parts that operate in corrosive environments. We have supplied MoS2 lubrication to our clients in aerospace, military and industrial applications.
  • Tungsten Disulfide (WS2): In the world of plastic injection molding and tooling, this is our most popular coating. Tungsten Disulfide is thin, at 0.00002”, so it does not affect normal machine tolerances. It does not chip, flake or transfer to the molded part. It is applied at room temperature and requires no curing so there are no detrimental effects to the substrate. WS2 can reduce molding temperature, increase plastic flow, enhance part release and reduce wear in cores, cavities and ejector pins. Tungsten Disulfide is biocompatible, has been tested for ISO-10993 and USP Class VI.
  • Micro-Lube Lithium-Based Lubricant: This is a multi-purpose lubricant grease. It is extremely tacky, has high pressure additives and a high drop point. It is excellent for hard to reach pins, hinges and similar applications. It is effective in reducing corrosion, sealing out water and steam and resists washout.
