Lapping of cast iron is a process that needs to be done with utmost care. The lapping compound should be such that it does not imbed at all into the metal surface. Thus, it is advisable to choose a lapping compound that is free of charging abrasives such as aluminum oxide, emery, silicone-carbide and diamond or diamond like lapping compounds.

These sectors include: Critical Manufacturing; Government Facilities; Nuclear Reactors, Materials, and Waste; Defense Industrial Base; and Communications.
